Ralph Monö has a background working with development cooperation issues for the Swedish government for many years, mainly in Africa and the Balkans. He has also been involved extensively in environmental organizations, the Swedish Green party and been Secretary General for the Greens in Europe, working from the European Parliament in Brussels. Ralph took up his position as Head of office for ULI in early 2009, and he is a member of the Executive Committee of EUROGI.

Karsten Lien is a senior advisor in the Secretariat of Norway Digital at the Norwegian Mapping Authority. He is member of the GI Norden Board since 2006.  He has an university degree in physical geography and has worked almost 20 years with the Norwegian Mapping Authority, most of the time in management in the Land Mapping Division. He has also been general manager of GeoForum for four years. In the spare time he enjoys walking in the mountains and forests, local history and culture, and hunting. He is married and has two children.

Peter Wasström is president of the Swedish Cartographic Society and also working at Lantmäteriet in Sweden. He is member of the GI Norden Board since 2009. He has a master of science in surveying from Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and has worked since 1990 in Lantmäteriet in Gävle, Sweden. In the spare time he enjoys listen to music, scouting, nature, cycling, cross country skiing and sports in general. He is married to Christina and lives in their house in Gävle.

Sanna Jokela is member of ProGIS association (head of board in 2010). She has been a member of the GI Norden Board in 2010 and 2011. She has a master of science in Geography from University of Turku. She has worked since 2007 in Regional Council of Southwest Finland in projects increasing the awareness and use of GIS in Southwest Finland (GIS co-operation network called Lounaispaikka). In her spare time she likes watching movies, drawing and reading. She is married and has one child Elli and very hairy cat called The Buggieman. She is on maternity leave until the end of 2011.

Þorbjörg Kr. Kjartansdóttir has been secretary general for the national GI organisation in Iceland since 1994 and member of the GI Norden board since 1997. She was vice president of GI Norden 2005-2009 and is the president since May 2009. Þorbjörg has a Cand.scient. degree from Copenhagen University in Geography and Planning. She is also teaching planning and GI in the University of Iceland. Þorbjörg is married and has two children. In her free time she enjoys a game of tennis, swimming and traveling.

Rannveig Ólafsdóttir is an associate professor at the department of tourism and geography at the University of Iceland and a researcher at the Icelandic Tourism Research Centre. She is a member of the GI Norden Board since 2008. Rannveig completed at PhD in Physical Geography from Lund University in 2001. Her main research interest today is tourism and GIS, environmental planning and management.

Henning Sten Hansen is professor in Geoinformatics at Aalborg University. He is member of the GI Norden Board since 2001, and was its president from 2005-2007. His main research interests are geographic information related to the environment – particularly spatio-temporal modelling and spatial data infrastructures. The European dimension is in focus, and Henning Sten Hansen has been involved in several EU funded research projects, and he is active in European organisations like UDMS, AGILE and ScanGIS – the Scandinavian GI Research Community. He is involved in the INSPIRE process by being a member of the INSPIRE Expert group and a key player in the Danish INSPIRE implementation. Henning Sten Hansen represents GI Norden in EUROGI, and since March 2008 he is Member of the EUROGI Executive Committee. He developed the Danish Journal of Geographic Information – Geoforum Perspektiv, and was its first chief editor from 2002 to 2007. He is married and has two children. In the freetime he enjoys cycling, nature and modern art.

Jesper Skovdal Christiansen is head of secretariat at Geoforum Danmark. He is member of the GI Norden Board since 2008. As an administrator of the Danish geographical society his main interests are to improve the services for the members of Geoforum Danmark and to rethink the organisation in a structured and strategic way to increase the common consciousness of geographic information among the Danes. He aims at focussing within the areas of capacity building and documentation, standardisation, dissemination and public information, and besides lobbyism towards decision makers. He has a background as environmental engineer and has had a scientific carrier doing a Ph.D. Over the last ten years his main efforts were in the consultancy business managing large international GIS projects among others for the European Environment Agency. In the spare time he is a member of the city council and enjoys nature and family life with his girlfriend and two children.
