Jan Terje Bjørke has passed away
Jan Terje Bjørke passed away 26th April 2011, only 63 years old. Jan Terje was a central person in the Norwegian geomatic society, especially within cartography. He has been a board member of GeoForum in Norway, and he got GI Norden's Award of honour in 2008.

Jan Terje Bjørke achieved the Award of honour for
initiating and organising the Scandinavian Research Conferences
(ScanGIS), with his enthusiastic attitude to Nordic cooperation.
He was working at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (Forsvarets forskningsinstitutt, FFI) in Horten.
He also had a professor II position at the Geomatics Section - Department of Mathematical Sciences and Technology, at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (UMB) in Ås.
The funeral was in Bugården church in Sandefjord 4th May.
